Tilka Brown is an experienced primary school teacher, motivational speaker and Founder of The Language Toolbox. As a passionate advocate for additional language programs across all stages of education, her current role involves travelling to many classrooms - all over the world - teaching thousands of beautiful students and their teachers.
She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree (with a double-major in English Literature and Japanese Studies) and a Post-graduate degree in Education (primary). She has taught across the curriculum in all year levels for many years and has worked extensively in leadership positions. Since commencing work with The Language Toolbox, Tilka has presented her educational philosophies at several national and international conferences such as ICOLL 2016 Rome, Italy and ICLMC 2016 in Osaka, Japan where she was awarded with ‘Best Paper’ for her paper ‘Creating Confident Classrooms with CLIL.’ Most recently, Tilka was invited to give a presentation at the state-level Japanese Language Teachers’ Association of Victoria annual conference and was awarded with a ‘Recognition in Leadership in Languages’ certificate.
Tilka seeks to inspire educators to incorporate quality language programs, such as CLIL programs, into their everyday teaching and learning practices. As an avid believer in the phrase ‘children cannot learn unless at first they feel happy,’ Tilka prioritises the teaching of social and emotional intelligences into her lessons - a practice she refers to as ‘HeartFULL Teaching.’
